报告人简介：
大卫·韦特教授是澳大利亚悉尼新南威尔士大学土木与环境工程学院的卓越教授。他本科毕业于塔斯马尼亚大学，硕士毕业于莫纳什大学，并于麻省理工学院（MIT）获得博士学位。韦特教授的主要教学领域为水化学和水处理，其核心研究方向聚焦于自然与工程系统中的物理化学过程。除在悉尼本校任职外，韦特教授还担任位于中国江苏省宜兴市的新南威尔士大学环境技术创新中心的执行主任兼董事会主席。同时，他也是美国化学会权威期刊《环境科学与技术》的执行主编。2018年，韦特教授当选美国国家工程院外籍院士，以表彰其在工程领域的卓越贡献。
报告内容简介：
Iron and natural organic matter represent two of the most common constituents of natural waters with their interaction critical to the forms of each species present under both dark and light conditions. In this talk, Professor Waite will describe the research that his group has undertaken over a number of years to clarify the nature of the interactions between Fe and NOM and will provide insight as to why a sound understanding of Fe-NOM interactions is important to the functioning of natural systems.
